Anirban finished in a share of 57th place as golf returned to the Olympics after a 112-year absence.

He shot rounds of 74, 73, 75 and 72 but despite not playing as well as he might have liked, Anirban expressed his delight in being a part of the Olympics. The competetion was running without some players who withdrew to the threat of the Zika virus.

Anirban said: “It’s been fantastic and it will always be amazing to represent your country at an Olympics.

“Rio has been fantastic and the weather has been great. I think I have seen more wild life than mosquitoes this week.”
